the red eared turtle is a rather messy and expensive pet but is quite neat!!the red eared turtle can be bought as a young turtle and then is easyer to care for. The red eared tutle will do fine on a staple food like pond food which i use but you can feed them live food which will make them grow faster but i don't recommend it [the poor fish!!]. For two 7cm turtles a ten gallon is ok but i recommend a twenty gallon.the turtles can be put in with some cheap aquatic plants to keep them healthy but for a young turtle it should have 75% COOKED meat and 25%veggies and the ocasional worm or something.the adult tutles should have 60%veggies and 40% COOKED meat. When full grown the tutles will need a 35-50 gallon aquarium. Red eared tutles can live to be 60 or more so it is a life-long commitment! For the tutle i reccomend the fluval's preferably the biggest you can buy so you do not have to replace it every few years. You should have a 25-100 watt heater depending on the size of the aquarium + the heater should have a VERY strong cover or should be put behind some secure rocks if you don't your turtle could break the heater and be electrocuted. Also some cuttlebone is good for them to take a bite of just put a bit of it in their food. This is all i know about reb eared's but if you whant breeding information or info on hibernating them please refer to another page cause i do not whant to breed my tutles and i do not hibernate them i hope this information has been useful!
